Co-op suggests that snack consist of three of the following four groups: fruits, vegetables, grains and proteins. Which three groups is totally up to you and your child. Co-op discourages the use of refined sugar and instead promotes more healthy choices. The following is just a brief list of suggestions, but feel free to be as creative as you like. There is also a proposed snack list on the bulletin board to help with ideas. Please note any allergies the children may have in your class or children who are vegetarians. Snack Ideas

Fruits
Apples, cherries, peaches, oranges, kiwi, nectarines, grapes, pears, bananas, raisins, pineapple, dried cranberries, melons, pears, berries, applesauce

Vegetables
Broccoli, popcorn, marinara sauce, cauliflower, corn muffins, celery, pickles, salsa, carrots, cucumbers, olives, mushrooms, sugar snap peas, green, red or yellow peppers

Grains
Pretzels, Chex mix, crackers, pizza, muffins, breakfast/cereal bars, pasta, dry cereal, bread or cheese sticks with sauce, bagels and cream cheese, quick breads (apple, pumpkin, zucchini, etc.), bread with spread

Protien
Hummus, lunch meat rolls, sandwiches, yogurt, nuts, bean dip, soybeans, trail mix, peanut butter, cottage cheese, cheese (string, cubed or sliced)
